Reb Zalman Teaching Digital Sound Files

It all started…

…when I became ALEPH’s Rabbinic Director in 1997. At that time, one of the responsibilities I was given was the Reb Zalman Legacy Project. This was an important part of my portfolio and Reb Zalman himself contributed to my salary so that I could work on this project.

The first fruits were the series of books and booklets I transcribed and edited for him. These are now part of the ALEPH Canada ReSources Catalogue, and have been available for several years.

Another part of this project was to make digital copies of the hundreds of tapes that ALEPH had of his teaching. Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked on making those copies, filing them, and entering the information into a database. And, after all this time, these files are now available to people seeking a more intimate understanding of Reb Zalman’s teachings and world view with the added benefit of hearing his voice.

This project is still in progress. While many of the recordings that were originally a single cassette have detailed notes about content, sequence, and sound quality, most of the longer ones do not. So we are asking you to add information to the database (which you can do either directly or by making a copy of the form and sending it to us). That way, our heirs will have a resource they can consult and be able to better identify the teachings they most need.

To access the sound file(s) of your choice, follow this two step procedure:

Step One: Use the link below to access a folder with four files. One is a step by step guide to this process. A second is a list of the folders in which the files are located. Third is a database which contains a list of the individual files within each of those folders. The fourth is the form we use to fill out the database.

Step Two: Once you have located the folder with the file(s) you want, then use the link below to access the specific teaching you want to hear. You can then stream it or download it as you prefer.
